Burini was
founded in Bergamo in ’50 ,from Giuseppe Burini, started as a small
shirtmaker and grew into a successful business; in 1975 with the new factory in
Curno near Bergamo. The story of Burini is a fascinating one that interweaves
tailoring secrets like expert workmanship, the finest fabrics and meticulous
attention to detail. Manager Claudio Ubbiali reveals all as he flicks through
a beautiful catalogue showing exemples of exclusive cottons and collar, cuff
and buttonhole designs. “We buy our fabrics from the world’s most prestigious
manufacturers such as Alumo, in Switzerland, home to the finest textiles
designed by San Gallo , form Sic.Tess in Masate (Albini cotton mill), which
has always had its headquarters near
Bergamo. We only choose their best lines, which are also admired by the
English Royal Family.”
The rest is left to the hands of expert tailors, cutters,
stitchers and ironers who ensure that collars and cuffs are perfectly
produced. Personalized initials and overall fit and feel are also important
aspects of the product.
“What makes our shrts so special is the sensation
you get when you put them on: like a second skin” says Ubbiali.
